Identifying a vintage Diamond Back frame requires more than just reading a stamped code; it requires an understanding of the manufacturing shifts between Koizumi, Tange, and Fairly.
During the "Gusset Era," production logic evolved rapidly. Early 1979 Large Pro models utilized a relaxed geometry and and mixture or 2mm and 3mm dropouts, while the introduction of the Pro Senior in 1981 brought near-vertical seat tubes and 2mm "race weight" dropouts throughout the Pro series range.
